* Provide the community of Vernonia and outlying areas with a place to hold group functions: town halls, board, and committee meetings, weddings, friends and family events, memorial services, classes, and other activities.

* Encourage others to participate in various fundraisers for the renovation and operations of the Cabin.
The Cabin in Vernonia, formerly known as the Scout Cabin, was originally built in the late 1920s for the Camp Fire Girls and was used for the Boy Scouts and other youth groups for several decades. The building was rebuilt by Friends of the Scout Cabin volunteers after the 1996 flood. Ready for business in 2000, it was managed by the same base of volunteers until 2019 when they donated the building to Vernonia Senior Citizens to us as an activity center.
The Cabin is now operated by Vernonia Senior Citizens, a 501C3 nonprofit organization incorporated in 1969, whose mission is to promote the health, wellbeing, and independence of seniors 60 and older through recreation, creative activity, support services, and information.

Wonderful location for children's birthday parties, grandpa's birthday, baby showers, etc. Play structure in park adjacent to cabin as well as Rock Creek and Dewey Pool (An old-fashioned swimming hole in the river with a kiddy pool next to it).
The cabin is a perfect location for an inside wedding or an outside wedding in the summer time. An open grassy field and gazebo adjoining the cabin is a wonderful compliment to your event. The Cabin is located in the City of Vernonia's Hawkins park. If you would like to reserve the gazebo or Park, Click Here.
